Saving an APN does not activate it — you must select it
On Android, after tapping Save the new APN appears in the list but is not yet active. Tap the radio button (empty circle) next to it so it becomes filled. The profile is only active when the circle is filled. Then toggle aeroplane mode or restart.
Greyed-out APN on Samsung (Smarty)
iOS 16 and up keeps it at Settings → Mobile Data → Mobile Data Network. Missing? SMARTY configures the APN itself; a network reset restores defaults.
On some recent iPhones, SMARTY's bundle locks APN editing; only a SMARTY-side update will change it.

On Android: the field is locked by a carrier profile. Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Access Point Names and tap Reset to Default (three-dot menu). On iPhone: the carrier bundle controls the APN — it cannot be edited manually. Contact your network to push an updated carrier profile, or insert the SIM in another phone to test.

Type every character exactly as shown — no spaces before or after, no capital letters unless listed. One wrong character stops mobile data from working. After saving on Android, tap the radio button (filled circle) next to the new profile to activate it.
