O2 MMS Settings UK 2026 MMS guide thumbnail

O2 MMS settings control how your phone sends and receives picture messages. The MMSC address is http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 and MMS Proxy is 82.132.254.1 on port 8080. Most Android devices need these values entered manually; iPhones receive them via the carrier bundle automatically.

Several MVNOs run on O2's MMS settings — giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile, Virgin Media O2 and Lycamobile all send picture messages through the same O2 infrastructure.

O2 MMS Settings

Type these values into O2's APN profile exactly — a single wrong character stops picture messages from working.

Android MMS Setup — O2

On Android, O2's MMS fields sit inside the same APN (Access Point Names) screen as the internet profile settings. The exact menu path varies by manufacturer.

Samsung (Galaxy devices)

  1. Open Settings › Connections › Mobile Networks › Access Point Names to find the O2 entry.
  2. Tap your existing O2 APN to edit it, or tap + to create a new one.
  3. Set APN: mobile.o2.co.uk.
  4. Enter MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002.
  5. Enter MMS Proxy: 82.132.254.1 and MMS Port: 8080.
  6. Set APN Type: default,supl,mms.
  7. Tap the three-dot menu, choose Save, then tap the radio button beside the new O2 profile.
  8. A restart, or a quick Aeroplane Mode toggle, is what applies the change on O2.

Pixel and other Android devices

  1. Open Settings › Network & internet › Mobile network › Access point names to reach O2's profile.
  2. Tap the + icon to add a new APN, or tap your existing O2 APN to edit it.
  3. Copy every value from the O2 table above precisely, and leave anything not listed blank.
  4. Open the overflow menu and hit Save, then tap the radio button next to the O2 APN to switch it on.
  5. Restart the phone once O2's MMS values are saved to make them active.
⚠ Important: After tapping Save on Android, the APN is not yet active. You must tap the radio button (empty circle) next to the APN to activate it. The circle must be filled for the profile to be in use.

O2 MMS on iPhone

iPhones receive MMS settings automatically via the O2 carrier bundle. You generally do not need to enter them manually. If picture messages are not working on iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings › General › About to check — a carrier settings update prompt appears there when one's ready.
  2. Check Settings › Messages to confirm MMS Messaging is switched on before testing O2 picture messages.
  3. Toggle Aeroplane Mode on for 15–30 seconds, then off, to re-register on the O2 network.
  4. Fully restart the iPhone and send a test picture message over O2 afterwards.
  5. MMS not working even after that? Settings › General › Transfer or Reset iPhone › Reset › Reset Network Settings clears saved Wi-Fi passwords as a side effect.
Note: On iPhones with iOS 16 or later, the APN field at Settings › Mobile Data › Mobile Data Network may be greyed out. This is normal — O2 controls it via the carrier bundle. Contact O2 to force a carrier profile update if needed.

Troubleshooting O2 MMS

  1. Rule out a data connection issue first — MMS won't work over Wi-Fi alone; confirm mobile data is active.
  2. Check the MMSC field precisely: it should read http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 with nothing extra.
  3. Verify MMS Proxy and Port match 82.132.254.1 and 8080 — wrong values here are the single most common cause of failure.
  4. Check APN Type includes mms, not only default and supl, on the O2 profile.
  5. On Android, tap the radio button to activate O2's APN — saving it alone doesn't switch it on.
  6. Switch on MMS in whichever messaging app you use, via its own settings.
  7. Restart the phone once the O2 changes are saved.
  8. If it's still not working, reset network settings on O2 and start again.
  9. Contact O2 on 202 (free from an O2 phone) or 0344 809 0202 if you're still stuck.
