SMARTY MMS Settings UK 2026 MMS

SMARTY MMS Settings UK 2026 MMS guide thumbnail

SMARTY MMS settings control how your phone sends and receives picture messages. The MMSC address is http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc and MMS Proxy is mms.three.co.uk on port 8799. Most Android devices need these values entered manually; iPhones receive them via the carrier bundle automatically.

As an MVNO on Three's network, SMARTY uses the same MMSC and proxy values as Three and its other MVNOs like iD Mobile and spusu, with only the APN name differing.

SMARTY MMS Settings (SMARTY MMS Settings UK 2026 MMS)

Get these values exactly right in the APN profile; even a small typo prevents MMS from working.

Android MMS Setup — SMARTY

MMS is configured via the APN (Access Point Names) section in Android's mobile network settings, though the exact route varies by manufacturer.

Samsung (Galaxy devices)

  1. Open Settings › Connections › Mobile Networks › Access Point Names.
  2. Tap your existing SMARTY APN to edit it, or tap + to create a new one.
  3. Set APN: smarty.
  4. Enter MMSC: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc.
  5. Enter MMS Proxy: mms.three.co.uk and MMS Port: 8799.
  6. Set APN Type: default,supl,mms.
  7. Tap ⋮ › Save, then select the profile by tapping the radio button next to it.
  8. To apply the changes, either restart the phone or toggle Aeroplane Mode.

Pixel and other Android devices

  1. Open Settings › Network & internet › Mobile network › Access point names.
  2. Tap the + icon to add a new APN, or tap your existing SMARTY APN to edit it.
  3. The table's values need entering exactly, with unlisted fields left empty.
  4. Tap the three-dot menu and select Save. Tap the radio button next to the APN to activate it.
  5. MMS settings take effect after restarting the phone.
⚠ Important: After tapping Save on Android, the APN is not yet active. You must tap the radio button (empty circle) next to the APN to activate it. The circle must be filled for the profile to be in use.

SMARTY MMS on iPhone

iPhones receive MMS settings automatically via the SMARTY carrier bundle. You generally do not need to enter them manually. If picture messages are not working on iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Look under Settings › General › About for a carrier settings update prompt, tapping Update if one appears.
  2. Go to Settings › Messages and confirm MMS Messaging is toggled ON.
  3. Toggle Aeroplane Mode on for 15–30 seconds, then off, to re-register on the SMARTY network.
  4. Fully restarting the iPhone, then testing a picture message, is the last step.
  5. Should MMS keep failing, try Settings › General › Transfer or Reset iPhone › Reset › Reset Network Settings, which also clears saved Wi-Fi passwords.
Note: On iPhones with iOS 16 or later, the APN field at Settings › Mobile Data › Mobile Data Network may be greyed out. This is normal — SMARTY controls it via the carrier bundle. Contact SMARTY to force a carrier profile update if needed.

Troubleshooting SMARTY MMS

  1. Confirm mobile data is switched on — Wi-Fi alone won't carry MMS traffic.
  2. Check the MMSC value exactly: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc, character for character.
  3. Check the MMS Proxy and Port: mms.three.co.uk and 8799 — most stuck-message reports trace back to one of these being wrong.
  4. Make sure APN Type has mms as well as default and supl.
  5. On Android, the APN needs the radio button tapped to be active, not merely saved.
  6. Verify the messaging app has MMS switched on.
  7. A restart is needed after making any changes.
  8. Reset network settings last, then type every field back in.
  9. Call SMARTY on help if the problem continues.
