Does Three support 5G?

Yes, EE has an active 5G network across the UK, with coverage continuing to expand. To use 5G on EE, you need a 5G-capable device, a EE SIM on a 5G-enabled plan, and to be within EE's 5G coverage area. Check coverage at the EE APN hub.

How to enable 5G on Three

On Android: Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Preferred Network Type and select 5G/4G/3G/2G (auto) or the highest available option. On Samsung, go to Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Network Mode.

On iPhone: Go to Settings → Mobile Data → Mobile Data Options → Voice & Data and select 5G. If the option is not visible, your iPhone model or carrier plan may not support 5G on EE.

The APN settings for 5G on EE are the same as the standard mobile data APN. Your phone should use 5G automatically once it is enabled in your network settings. If 5G is not appearing in the status bar despite being in a covered area, try toggling aeroplane mode, restarting your phone or resetting your APN settings to the EE defaults.

Troubleshooting Three 5G problems

5G not showing: Check your plan includes 5G. Ensure your device supports 5G. Verify you are within EE 5G coverage. Go to network settings and set the preferred network type to include 5G.

5G slow: 5G speeds vary by location, network congestion and signal strength. Move to an area with a clearer line of sight to a mast. Ensure no background apps are consuming data. Contact EE if speeds are consistently poor in your area.

5G connected but no internet: Check APN settings are correct for EE. Reset network settings. Try switching to 4G, testing mobile data, then switching back to 5G.
