EE APN on iPhone — What You Need to Know
Apple restricts manual APN editing on iPhone. When you insert an EE SIM, iOS automatically downloads the EE carrier bundle, which contains the APN settings. You do not need to type in the APN values manually.
If your iPhone has an EE SIM but mobile data is not working:
- Go to Settings › General › About. If a carrier settings update is available, a prompt will appear — tap Update.
- Toggle Aeroplane Mode on for 15 seconds, then off. This forces the phone to re-register on EE's network.
- Restart the iPhone fully (power off, wait 30 seconds, power on).
- Check that Settings › Cellular › Cellular Data is switched on.
- If the Cellular Data Network option is greyed out or missing, this means iOS is managing the APN via the carrier bundle. Call EE on 150 (free from an EE phone) to request an APN settings push.
EE 4G and 5G APN Settings
EE uses the same APN string (everywhere) for both 4G LTE and 5G NSA/SA connections. There is no separate 5G APN. If you are in an EE 5G coverage area (currently covering most major UK cities) and your phone supports 5G, it will connect automatically once you have the correct APN configured.
To confirm your phone is connecting on 5G: go to Settings › Mobile Network › Network Mode and ensure 5G/4G/3G/2G (Auto) is selected. EE's 5G operates on the 3.4 GHz (Band n78) and 700 MHz (Band n28) frequencies. Phones that only support Sub-6GHz 5G (not mmWave) work fine on EE's network.
EE APN Troubleshooting — Step-by-Step
Work through these steps in order. Most EE data problems are resolved by step 2 or 3.
- Toggle Aeroplane Mode. Turn Aeroplane Mode on for 15 seconds, then off. This disconnects and reconnects to EE's network. Works for most temporary data outages.
- Restart your phone. A full restart clears network state and re-initialises the APN profile. Works for settings that saved correctly but haven't taken effect.
- Check EE service status. Visit EE's network status checker or call 150 to check for outages in your postcode. Planned maintenance and unplanned outages affect data.
- Delete and re-enter the APN from scratch. Go to Access Point Names, delete the EE profile, and create a new one using the table above. Common cause of failure: copy-paste added an invisible space before or after "everywhere".
- Check the APN is selected. In the APN list, confirm the filled radio button (●) is next to your EE profile — not next to an old or blank entry.
- Reset Network Settings. This removes all saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth pairings but clears any corrupt network state. On Android: Settings › General Management › Reset › Reset Network Settings. On iPhone: Settings › General › Transfer or Reset › Reset › Reset Network Settings.
- Contact EE support. Call 150 (free from EE) or 07953 966 150 (from other networks). Ask EE to push APN settings to your number remotely — this overwrites any corrupted local configuration.
