Supported Devices — giffgaff eSIM
giffgaff eSIM supports iPhone XR/XS and later, iPhone SE 2nd/3rd gen; Samsung Galaxy S20+, S21–S25, Z Fold/Flip; Google Pixel 3a, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. giffgaff uses O2's eSIM infrastructure — any device supporting O2 eSIM supports giffgaff eSIM.
💡 eSIM is a hardware feature — if your phone doesn't have an eSIM chip, it cannot use eSIM regardless of software updates.
Troubleshooting giffgaff eSIM
- Check your QR code is unused — each giffgaff eSIM QR code can only be scanned once. If it fails, contact giffgaff for a replacement code.
- Check carrier settings update — on iPhone, go to Settings › General › About. An update prompt means iOS needs to update carrier settings before the eSIM will work.
- Restart after activation — always restart your phone after scanning an eSIM QR code.
- Check the eSIM is set as active data SIM — on dual-SIM devices, ensure giffgaff eSIM is selected as the data line in SIM settings.
- Manual APN if data fails — eSIM activation doesn't always push APN settings. Check our giffgaff APN Settings guide and configure manually if needed.
- Contact giffgaff support — community.giffgaff.com or the giffgaff app (no phone line).

How do I get a giffgaff eSIM?
Order at giffgaff.com/esim. A QR code is sent by email for scanning during activation.
Can I swap my giffgaff physical SIM to eSIM?
Yes. In the giffgaff app or website you can request an eSIM. Your giffgaff number transfers automatically.
