O2 APN Settings UK 2026 MNO
O2 is the UK's second-largest mobile network, owned by Virgin Media O2. Its APN is mobile.o2.co.uk. Several large MVNOs — including giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, and Sky Mobile — use O2's infrastructure but require their own distinct APN values. This page covers O2's direct APN settings only. O2 MMS Settings — Picture Messages
O2's MMS gateway is separate from the internet APN. Create a dedicated MMS APN profile with these values, or add them to your existing O2 Internet profile by setting APN Type to default,supl,mms.

How to Configure O2 APN on Android
- Open Settings on your Samsung Galaxy.
- Tap Connections › Mobile Networks.
- Tap Access Point Names.
- Tap the + (Add) button.
- Set Name to O2 Internet and APN to mobile.o2.co.uk. Fill in remaining fields.
- Tap ⋮ (three dots) › Save.
- Tap the radio button next to O2 Internet to activate it.
- Restart or toggle Aeroplane Mode to apply.
- Open Settings › Network & internet › SIMs.
- Tap your O2 SIM, then Access Point Names.
- Tap + to add a new APN.
- Enter the O2 values from the table. Critical: APN = mobile.o2.co.uk, APN Type = default,supl.
- Save via the three-dot menu. Select the profile to activate.
- Toggle Aeroplane Mode on/off.
- Go to Settings › SIM cards & mobile networks.
- Select your O2 SIM, then tap Access Point Names.
- Tap + or the three-dot menu to add an APN.
- Enter all O2 values. On MIUI/HyperOS, the APN Protocol field may need to be set manually to IPv4/IPv6.
- Save and restart.
- Open Settings › Network & Internet (or Wireless & Networks).
- Tap Mobile Network › Access Point Names.
- Add a new APN, fill in O2 values, save and activate.
- Restart to apply.
O2 APN on iPhone
iPhones with an O2 SIM receive APN configuration automatically via the O2 carrier bundle. Manual editing is not possible on iOS. If mobile data is not working on an O2 iPhone:
- Go to Settings › General › About — accept any carrier settings update prompt.
- Toggle Aeroplane Mode on for 15 seconds, then off.
- Check Settings › Cellular › Cellular Data is enabled.
- Restart the iPhone.
- If still failing: remove the SIM, inspect for damage, reinsert firmly, wait 60 seconds.
- Call O2 on 202 (free from O2) or 0344 809 0202 from any phone for account and APN support.
O2 4G and 5G Network
O2 uses the same APN (mobile.o2.co.uk) for 4G LTE and 5G SA/NSA connections. O2's 5G network launched in October 2019 and now covers most major UK cities on 3.5 GHz (Band n78). The 700 MHz 5G rollout (Band n28) provides improved indoor and rural coverage. O2 also maintains a 3G network (Band 1 / 2100 MHz) for fallback in areas without 4G coverage.
To enable 5G on an O2 handset: go to Settings › Mobile Network › Network Mode, and select 5G/4G/3G/2G Auto. If 5G is not appearing in an area with O2 5G coverage, the issue is usually the device's 5G band compatibility, not the APN.

O2 APN Troubleshooting
- Toggle Aeroplane Mode for 15 seconds to force network re-registration.
- Restart your phone fully to apply any saved APN changes.
- Check O2 service status. Visit O2's network status page or call 202 (free from O2). O2's My O2 app also shows real-time network status.
- Verify the APN string. Delete your current O2 APN profile and recreate it. Confirm the APN field reads exactly mobile.o2.co.uk — no http://, no trailing slash.
- Check APN Type. For internet only, set to
default,supl. If MMS is also broken, set todefault,supl,mms. - Reset network settings. This clears all APN, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth settings — note your Wi-Fi passwords first.
- Contact O2. Call 202 from an O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any number. O2 can push APN settings directly to your SIM remotely.
