How to Enable Three Data Roaming

  1. Open Settings › Connections (Samsung) or Network & internet (Pixel) › Mobile Networks.
  2. Toggle Data Roaming to ON. A warning about potential roaming charges will appear — confirm.
  3. On iPhone: go to Settings › Cellular › Cellular Data Options and enable Data Roaming.
  4. When you arrive at your destination, restart your phone or toggle Aeroplane Mode to register on a local partner network.
  5. Confirm you have a data signal and test browsing.

Three Roaming APN

Three uses the same APN for both UK and international roaming: three.co.uk. You do not need to change your APN settings when travelling abroad on Three. If data isn't working after enabling roaming, verify the APN is still set correctly:

EU Roaming Policy — Three

Three's Go Roam scheme includes 71 destinations — all EU countries plus many others — at no extra cost on eligible plans. Go Roam uses your UK data allowance abroad. If you exhaust your UK allowance, Three charges per MB at standard Go Roam rates.

⚠ Post-Brexit: UK mobile networks are not required to offer EU roaming as part of a standard plan. Always verify your plan's roaming terms in the carrier app before travelling to avoid unexpected charges.

Troubleshooting Three Roaming

  1. Enable data roaming in Settings › Mobile Networks — it is often off by default.
  2. Restart your phone after arriving in the destination country to register on a local partner network.
  3. Toggle Aeroplane Mode on for 30 seconds then off to force a network re-scan.
  4. Check APN settings — verify APN is three.co.uk and hasn't been changed.
  5. Check your plan includes roaming for your destination — not all destinations are covered on all plans.
  6. Try manual network selection: Settings › Mobile Networks › Network Operators › select a partner carrier manually.
